Position Summary

The Professional Development Coordinator will provide support to the Tax group.

Essentials Duties and Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Providing staffing assistance to the Professional Development Manager and Staffing Partners.   This includes updating the daily Tax staffing log, making staffing suggestions, as needed, and handling staffing requests when the Tax Professional Development Manager is out.
  • Reviewing weekly Tax staffing spreadsheet and creating reports based on it.
  • Assisting with the administration of the vacation policy for the Tax Group, which includes maintaining the tax vacation calendars, ensuring that associates complete the vacation template and communicate with their teams about their upcoming vacations and coverage needs and coordinating with the PD Manager to find coverage.
  • Maintaining the 20-F database and corresponding with the corporate groups regarding the annual filing of 20-Fs.
  • Periodically distributing the Tax Group’s interest questionnaire and compiling and updating the results.
  • Providing support and assistance with the integration of new Tax associates and any lateral hires which includes drafting welcome memos; assistance with planning informal training sessions and planning check-ins with new associates, among other projects.
  • Organizing and maintaining materials for the practice group review meetings and providing additional support in connection with the review and talent management processes.
  • Reviewing lawyer time entries, as needed.
  • Assisting with organizing social events for the groups.
  • Assisting with other projects for the Professional Development department as requested.
Qualifications / Position Requirements
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
  • Must be comfortable using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively on all projects as well as a willingness to think outside the box and suggest more efficient or effective ways of executing tasks.
  • Ability to develop trust and inspire confidence among all the teams with whom we work.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of personnel and other sensitive matters is critical.
Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree required.

Compensation

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $70,000 - $80,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, anticipated assignment, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Davis Polk offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
