Director, Systems Operations
Monday through Friday, various shifts (overtime as needed; extended, night and weekend hours often required).
In collaboration with firm support professionals, the Operations Specialist will deploy, secure, maintain, track, and assess the firm’s telecommunications, networking, server, and storage equipment infrastructure inventory across all offices and locations. This will involve communication between various Information Systems departments, solutions research, planning and coordination of on-site testing, troubleshooting, systems maintenance and systems lifecycle support.
Typical responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Install new / rebuild existing servers, network devices, telecommunications devices and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
- Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
- Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Assist in the coordination and communication to impacted constituencies.
- Apply operating system patches, device firmware patches, and system upgrades on a regular basis.
- Upgrade and configure system software. Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures.
- Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.
- Maintain data center environmental and monitoring equipment.
- Act as internal consultant to all firm support departments including Systems Engineering, Programming, Computer Support, etc. in reviewing systems, processes, and workflow tools on a periodic basis
- General oversight of special projects relating to an array of office services which may range from abstract to operational concepts designed to improve office productivity and efficiency.
- Strong academic and professional experience, as well as a broad and deep knowledge of technology.
- Solid research abilities, superior interpersonal, communication and organizational skills are essential to ensuring effectiveness as both an agent of change and periodic, team leader.
- Must be a self-starter, have strong analytic skills and be attentive to details.
- Ability to innovate and make things happen in a collegial and consensus-driven fashion will be critical to success.
- An understanding of the firm’s practice, culture, and support operations, especially its document production systems and requirements, will prove invaluable.
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field
- Prior experience in the IT sector, in areas like technical support, operations, security, maintenance, preferably in a large law firm or professional services environment.
The expected base salary for this position ranges from $60,000 - $65,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, anticipated assignment, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained.
