On June 14, 2018, Brooklyn Defender Services (BDS) honored Davis Polk Pro Bono Attorney Dara Sheinfeld at its 2018 Family Defense Benefit. Sheinfeld was recognized for her direct work and supervision of associate teams in five Brooklyn Family Court cases over the past year, on which she worked closely with BDS staff. Three of these cases already have resulted in groundbreaking victories that have improved the legal landscape for future BDS clients.

BDS is a public defense organization that represents nearly 35,000 people each year who cannot afford an attorney. The focus of the Brooklyn Family Defense Practice is asserting the due process rights of parents in Family Court, while providing access to the benefits and services families need to stay together.
