In recognition of her leadership in pro bono litigation initiatives assisting survivors of domestic violence, Dara Sheinfeld, Davis Polk counsel and Head of Pro Bono Litigation, received Sanctuary for Families’ 2023 Abely Pro Bono Award at their 26th Annual Abely Awards event on November 30, 2023.

This awards program was established in memory of Maryellen Abely, a former Davis Polk associate who went on to work as a pro bono attorney at Sanctuary for Families’ Legal Center, where she was a tireless advocate for victims of domestic violence. The Abely Awards honor individuals who have made a difference in the lives of survivors of gender violence and who embody Maryellen Abely’s compassion, zeal, energy and dedication.
