Davis Polk honored by Volunteers of Legal Service
On April 25, 2023, Volunteers of Legal Service (VOLS) held its New York, Together 2023 Gala to raise critical funds for VOLS’ free legal services for low-income New Yorkers. VOLS honored Davis Polk and Société Générale at the event, in recognition of the firms’ “outstanding pro bono leadership” on VOLS projects.
Davis Polk works closely with VOLS on its Incarcerated Mothers Law Project, through which volunteer attorneys provide free legal advice, information and advocacy to women in prison to help them preserve and protect their parental rights, arrange care for their children, maintain family ties and plan for reunification. We also partner with VOLS on its Senior Law Project, which assists low-income New Yorkers age 60+ with essential life planning documents such as wills and powers of attorney.
Davis Polk counsel and VOLS board member Jim Windels and counsel and Head of Pro Bono Litigation Dara Sheinfeld accepted the award on behalf of the firm.
Dara and a client from the Incarcerated Mothers Law Project were featured in a moving video at the gala. View the video to learn more about VOLS’s work and our client’s story.
