Diane Lucas discusses Davis Polk’s pro bono work on non-unanimous jury cases in Louisiana
Davis Polk Pro Bono Counsel for Racial Justice Initiatives Diane Lucas was quoted in The Daily Advertiser on Davis Polk’s work with the Promise of Justice Initiative to take on non-unanimous jury cases in Louisiana, which were ruled unconstitutional in a landmark 2020 U.S. Supreme Court decision. A team of approximately 50 Davis Polk lawyers are working with PJI on 23 of these cases in Louisiana.
“Convictions by non-unanimous juries were banned in 2020. Now more than 1,000 applications may re-open cases in Louisiana,” The Daily Advertiser (May 4, 2021) (subscription required)
