Davis Polk partner Ning Chiu discussed company board composition with Spencer Stuart as part of the 2023 Spencer Stuart U.S. Board Index report. In the interview, Ning highlights how to identify the right person for a board, the ideal leadership lifecycle of board members, board activism and how to manage risk versus growth.

“A board is a group of people, it is not one individual. You don’t want one individual to be carrying the water or to be disruptive, and so you want the group to work together. It is a team effort,” Ning explained.
