Davis Polk partner Robert Cohen appears in a new Netflix documentary about one of the first fraud cases of the crypto era. “Bitconned” tells the story of the rise and fall of Centra Tech and its founders. The founders were charged with orchestrating a fraudulent initial coin offering that raised more than $32 million from thousands of investors and pled guilty to multiple counts of fraud.

Robert, who served as the first-ever Chief of the SEC’s Crypto Assets and Cyber Unit and led the SEC’s first wave of cases involving digital assets, is featured several times during the film. Robert discusses how the SEC investigates fraud, develops a case and works with federal law enforcement agencies like the FBI and DOJ to move forward with criminal charges.
