Davis Polk lawyers speak at ACI’s 2025 Economic Sanctions Enforcement and Compliance Conference
On April 30 – May 1, 2025, Davis Polk partner and White Collar Defense and Investigations practice chair Neil MacBride and partner Uzo Asonye will be among the speakers at the American Conference Institute’s 2025 Economic Sanctions Enforcement and Compliance Conference.
Neil will speak on the “Are Tariffs the New Sanctions?” panel. Topics discussed will include the use of tariffs instead of or along with sanctions as a tool to advance economic and foreign policy, the possibility of tariffs being a coercive measure in international trade, how the evolving landscape will affect global trade dynamics and the potential scope of retaliatory measures from key trading partners.
Uzo will speak on the “Under the Microscope: How Different Types of Financial Institutions Are Approaching New, High Stakes Sanctions Risks and Customer Due Diligence” panel. Topics discussed will include how to understand your company’s risk appetite, the impact of more customers moving to smaller banks and credit unions due to increased customer due diligence demands and what to do when you need to reassess a customer.
