Quanta Computer strategic collaboration with and investment in Rigetti
We are advising Quanta on the transaction
Davis Polk is advising Quanta Computer Inc. in connection with its strategic collaboration agreement with Rigetti. Quanta and Rigetti have committed to investing more than $100 million each over the next five years, with both sides focusing on their complementary strengths to develop superconducting quantum computing technologies. In addition, Quanta agreed to make a $35 million PIPE investment in Rigetti, the closing of which is subject to customary conditions. The transaction was signed on February 27, 2025.
Quanta, headquartered in Taiwan, is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of notebooks, artificial intelligence servers, advanced computing equipment and cloud infrastructure-related products. Founded in 1988 and listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange since 1999, Quanta Computer has manufacturing and service locations across Asia, the Americas and Europe.
Rigetti is a pioneer in full-stack quantum computing. Rigetti has operated quantum computers over the cloud since 2017 and serves global enterprise, government and research clients through its Rigetti Quantum Cloud Services platform. The company designs and manufactures its chips in-house at Fab-1, the industry’s first dedicated and integrated quantum device manufacturing facility.
