The American Lawyer highlights Davis Polk pro bono lawyers
In an American Lawyer article highlighting law firms that have hired dedicated pro bono lawyers, Davis Polk Chief Pro Bono Counsel Amelia Starr and Pro Bono Counsel for Racial Justice Initiatives Diane Lucas discussed the firm’s robust pro bono team.
Noting that Davis Polk may have the largest pro bono group in New York City, with seven dedicated lawyers, Amy highlighted the other leaders of Davis Polk’s program: Nancy Marchand, Counsel and Head of Corporate & Transactional Pro Bono; Dara Sheinfeld, Counsel and Head of Pro Bono Litigation; Diane Lucas, Pro Bono Counsel for Racial Justice Initiative; and Nishan Bhaumik, Pro Bono Counsel for Humanitarian Immigration Matters.
Diane told the publication that she joined Davis Polk because it gives her the opportunity to work at a firm with a commitment to racial justice pro bono, and to leverage the firm’s resources to help organizations “actively committed to undoing systemic racism and injustice.” She also noted that there is an urgent need for pro bono counsel across practice areas and she is encouraged by the number of other firms hiring dedicated pro bono attorneys.
