Davis Polk's assistance to COVID Recovery Taskforce highlighted by NY State Chief Judge DiFiore
Davis Polk’s pro bono efforts were highlighted by New York State Chief Judge Janet DiFiore in her December 7, 2020 COVID-19 update, “Coronavirus and the New York State Courts.” Judge DiFiore discussed the initiative to expand a video-conferencing legal advice platform created by Legal Information for Families Today (LIFT) to pilot districts across New York state. Davis Polk’s pro bono team partnered with the New York Bar’s Office for Justice Initiatives, led by Deputy Chief Administrative Judge Edwina Mendelson, to assist the State Bar’s COVID Recovery Task Force in developing the initiative. It will provide remote legal assistance to the growing number of unrepresented New Yorkers who are filing child support petitions throughout the state in the wake of the pandemic.
The Davis Polk team, comprised of associates Alexa Lutchen and Elizabeth Weinstein, is led by Special Counsel for Pro Bono Sharon Katz and Pro Bono Counsel Dara Sheinfeld.
