Davis Polk partner and Latin America practice group head Manuel Garciadiaz has been named “International Lawyer of the Year” by Latin Lawyer.

Latin Lawyer highlights Manuel’s work throughout his career on some of Brazil’s most high-profile equity offerings and his role at the forefront of the country’s latest capital markets boom. The publication also credits Manuel for his contributions “to Davis Polk’s position as an undisputed legal champion in Latin America’s corporate sphere, particularly in capital markets and M&A.”

In an interview, Manuel notes that underpinning his success is the ability to be collaborative, constructive and have an open mind.

“It’s important to be able to build a reputation as someone who is going to be constructive in their approach and who’s going to be looking out as to how to deal with any issues that come up,” he says. “You also need to be willing to learn and not being sort of set in your ways – know that there are pros and cons to every approach.”
