Our U.S. and international offices welcome applications from experienced lawyers, including current judicial clerks. Our London and Hong Kong offices offer two-year trainee solicitor programs.

Laterals

We are happy to receive applications from experienced lawyers. Please submit your cover letter, resume and law school transcript to the relevant contacts listed below. We generally reply within two to three weeks of receipt of the application.

Many of our international offices have lateral hiring needs. Our lawyers work on cross-border transactions, with emphasis on capital markets, M&A and finance issues. We have a leading U.S. law practice in our offices worldwide. In addition, we have top-rated local law capabilities in London and Hong Kong. We also practice English law in our Hong Kong and São Paulo offices. Lawyers practicing outside the United States who practice U.S. law must be admitted in one of the jurisdictions in which the firm has a U.S. office and be in compliance with any requirements of their local jurisdiction. Lawyers practicing local law in jurisdictions outside the United States must be duly admitted to practice in such jurisdiction.

Practice Resource Attorney - Finance

Davis Polk is looking for an experienced attorney who has practiced in the bank financing area (including acquisition finance) who will work closely with Finance partners to develop and implement projects designed to meet the knowledge needs of the Finance practice group, including substantive and skill-based trainings, knowledge management and client-facing initiatives.

HSR Specialist & Practice Resources Associate

This position will consist of (1) assisting with premerger notification filings under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act; (2) creating and maintaining practice group resources, such as standard forms and templates; (3) assisting with preparation of client presentations and other business development initiatives; and (4) coordinating training programs for the Antitrust & Competition practice group.

Judicial clerks

Davis Polk lawyers are recognized for their extensive experience, creativity, integrity and ability to handle the most complex and challenging matters for global clients. More than 100 of our lawyers have clerked for federal or state judges, including Justices of the U.S. Supreme Court.  

Individuals who join the firm directly after completing a judicial clerkship for a U.S. federal or state or Canadian court will be eligible to receive a bonus for a one- or two-year clerkship or two one-year clerkships. Individuals who join the firm directly after completing a judicial clerkship for the U.S. Supreme Court may be eligible for an additional bonus.
