Davis Polk partner Dan Stipano was quoted in S&P Global Market Intelligence on a bill before the Senate that would permit banks to lend to cannabis companies. Dan noted that the bill’s biggest champion has been Representative Ed Perlmutter, who will be retiring at the end of the year. He also added that the measure may make it through as an amendment to another bill that has broad support, like the spending bill.
